"...We wanted to create a musical experience that was a little different, but had something for everybody."
- Brian Crogan |
Shakedown began when a few previously experienced musicians in Vermont set out to create the ultimate musical experience: a band that plays unusual, cool selections that make you feel great. Featuring former members from The Naturals, Velvet Soul, and Ulterior Motive, Shakedown has developed a strong reputation for their performances at weddings, partys, and nightclubs. As drummer and founding member Brian Crogan put it, "When we started this band, we wanted to create a musical experience that was a little different, but had something for everybody."

Susannah Magee - Lead Vocals, Percussion
Susannah's love affair with singing began with a Judy Garland cassette. In her high school days, she was accepted into the Connecticut All State Choir and awarded a National Choral Award. She honed her harmonizing skills in the University of Vermont's a capella group The Cat's Meow, then in Vermont's professional a capella group Random Association, and later singing funk and soul in Burlington-based Velvet Soul.
Favorite things about singing with Shakedown: the challenge and fulfillment of singing Joan Jett, Michael Jackson and Etta James songs in the same night, and watching the audience smile, sing along, and then be crazy on the dance floor. |

Brian Crogan - Drums
Brian Crogan's earliest memories of drumming date back to banging on his kitchen breakfast stools as a child. Classically trained as a drummer in his high school band, he later ventured into both jazz and gospel bands at St. Michael's College. He has been playing clubs and private functions for well over 15 years, most recently in highly praised Vermont cover band, The Naturals, for almost ten years. He's a solid, steady, but exciting drummer who loves to put on a show!

Brian "Keys" Crosby - Keyboard, Guitar, Vocals
King of the keyboards and a passionate vocalist- Brian Crosby started out as a bass player in his high school rock band.
At home, he would play along on piano to songs he liked, and before he knew it, he was ripping up keyboard solos in the band. His talents have been featured in in several local favorites, including The Ticket- one of Vermont's most popular dance bands in the late 1980's, as well as The Project, Straight Up, and most recently Ulterior Motive in 2004. He uses a keyboard to its full technical and creative potential, surprising his audience with fullness of sound.

Scott McGrath - Bass Guitar, Vocals
Scott began playing saxophone at age 10, and guitar at age 11. In high
school he discovered that his true love was the bass guitar. In
college, he spent a few years locked in his
dorm room (between classes), studying a wide range of music and playing
styles. In 1998 he performed in classic rock cover band D'Guys.
From his first gig, he was hooked, and since has enjoyed playing in both original and cover bands in the Vermont area. Since then, Scott has pursued formal training, and performed in various bands over the past nine years, including Straight Up, and Ulterior Motive. He enjoys song writing and sound engineering. His favorite moment at a show: pulling out a totally forgotten song that everyone loves, but doesn't expect to hear!
